Counter Terrorism Advice for Licensed Premises

01 Dec
2022

The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Protective Security Operations Department have published a letter and guidance note reminding licence holders to be mindful of the risk of terrorism this festive season and the need to conduct a counter terrorism risk assessment, or to review existing arrangements.

For example, a review of existing arrangements might be necessary because the national threat level has increased. Information on the national threat level can be obtained by visiting https://www.gov.uk/terrorism-national-emergency. The current threat level is substantial, the mid-point of the 5 levels, which range from low to critical.

Those assessing risks are encouraged to know where threat level information can be obtained and to understand the nature of threats faced. Further information on risk management can be found on the Protect UK website - https://www.protectuk.police.uk/risk-management-template-and-examples – along with the Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) e-learning course - https://www.protectuk.police.uk/group/2
